Bukit Tinggi - Malaysia

Bukit Tinggi is nature's serenity awaiting for you onlya an hour's drive away from from Kuala Lumpur.

It lies some 2,500 feet above sea level.

Colmar Tropicale, located in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, is a replica of a collection of buildings from a north-eastern village in France dating back to the 16th Century. The French themed resort was opened in July 2000. It's surrounded by lush tropical forest land. Just RM 16 for adults and RM 8 for children below twelve, one can enjoy the various entertainment at Colmar Tropicale.

We started our journey from Berjaya  Times Square, with a ticket worth RM 55 person including bus transfer, entry to Colmar Tropicale Resort, Japenese Park, Rabbit Park and Botanical gardens.

As we moved along the traffic bustling highway the sunny morning slowly submitted itself into the soft cloudy afternoon.

The French castle look of the Colmar Tropicale is breathtakingly refreshing. There is a small reservoir with beautiful white and black ducks swimming across ... the skies are clear and hilla around the valley are plush green.. clouds fall over the landscape like soft snow .

Inside the resort.. one can enjoy delicious food, magic show, sand painting for kids, billiards or swim in the resort pool. There are souvenior shops to pick up a few momentos from.

There is a bus stand at the entrance.. where trams to Rabbit Park, Japenese Garden, Horse Trail and Botanical gardens ply every 30 mins.

Japenese Park is nature's galore and boasts of  being the first in tropical climate.

A trail up and down the hill is a house to Tatami Spa, Japenese Tea house, where you can buy tea and rent Kimono for RM 20. The place comes alive with natural springs an d colurful fishes swimming, you can feed the fishes with fish pellete.

Down the trail you witness amazing tropical forests, wild flowers and chirping clourful birds. The trail paves way for the botanical gardens that has plush green flora and vibrant fauna. With trees as high as 30 m to 40m the jungle is full of life and beauty. If you feel tierd and parched climbing up and down the trail there is lemon ice cream and cola on offer in the Japnese souvenior shop.

Back to Colmar, we had lunch at the open dining stone table. But as we finished our last bites the gaurd came alamring us that was not allowed, so beware of that :)

We quickly apologised and rushed off the luncheon. If you are a vegeterian and if you are Indians who love their parathas, rice and vegetables :) then I do suggest to carry yur own food along. Otherwise also would suggest yu to carry food with oneself specially if you have kids.

Food is available in the resort but has limited vegeterian options, and is on the higher price end.

The place is excellent if you are planning to stay there overnight and enjoy some quality quiet time admist nature.

Overall the place is beautiful and very close to nature, offering us a delight from the madding hustle bustle of city sounds.

We could not make it to the Rabbit park and horse trail, as the downpour from the clouds left us admiring nature in and around the resort. But it is recommended for kids.

Bukit Tinggi is a beautiful place for time off , when you have less time and want maximum of it :)
